In diesem zweiten Band mit Sarafina eröffnet sich im Gegensatz zum ersten Band statt assoziativen Momenten einzelner Bilder ein mehr oder weniger kohärenter Erzählstrang – also eine Bildergeschichte. Die monografische Serie entfaltet auch hier eine spezifische Qualität, indem die Abfolge der Bilder etwas Ganzes ergibt das über das Einzelbild hinausgeht.

Die Monografie-Reihe Holger Dülkens aus dem Zyklus „Lochbildfotografie“, zeigt eine moderne Bildsprache mit technischen Anleihen aus historischen Zeiten der Camera obscura. Eine einzigartige Bildsprache nimmt uns mit auf die Reise in die fotografische Gefühlswelt des Bildautors und zeigt uns, gegenläufig zu technischen Hochentwicklungen, die Ausdruckskraft künstlerischer Fotografie.

You hold in your hands the sixth volume of a series that highlights the photographic work of Holger Dülken in the last few years.

Unlike the first volume, this second volume with Sarafina doesn’t consist of single photos who evoke free associations but rather of a more or less coherent narrative flow – a picture story, if you will. The specific quality of this monographic series unfolds through a sequence of pictures creating something that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The series of the cycle „hole pattern photography“ shows a modern imagery applying some historical techniques of the pinhole camera era. A unique imagery takes us to the journey into the author’s photographic emotional world and demonstrates the vigour of artistic expression in contrast to technical high development.
In the black-and-white pictures in pinhole camera style the soul of a person emerges in a very unique way – the essence remains untouched; the insignificant parts disappear in the shadows and the blur.

Texts and thoughts, which were written by Berlin-based author, director and dramaturg Andreas Neu, provide a framework for this book series. He reflects in a very personal way on the connotations these photos can evoke.
